Comparison with other models

A number of data sets have been compared to the CARBONES results, graphs of monthly average carbon flux are shown below for a selection of regions. The Northern Hemisphere is classed as latitudes greater than 30°N, the Southern Hemisphere as latitudes greater than 30°S and the Tropics between 30°S and 30°N. The data sets compared to the CARBONES data are as follows:

  • Fnee_MACC: Net ecosystem flux from MACC II model
  • Fnee_LPJ: Net ecosystem flux from LPJ ecosystem model simulation
  • Fgpp_JUNG : Carbon absorbed by photosynthesis from a "FluxNet Data oriented approach"
  • Fgpp_LPJ : Carbon absorbed by photosynthesis from LPJ ecosystem model simulation
  • Fresp_JUNG : Carbon released by respiration from a "FluxNet Data oriented approach"
  • Foce_takahashi: Net air-sea carbon exchange (climatology) from Takahashi 2009

Product comparisons between these products and the CARBONES data are also presented in the flux maps. Look for the "Other products" entries in the list of variables at the left hand side.
